The ectopic located pituitary gland is extremely rare, as in other congenital pituitary anomalies. This term refers to the location in the pharyngeal wall or sphenoid bone extending along the persistent craniopharyngeal canal. It occurs as a result of migration disorder of the adenohypophysis and may present with pituitary dysfunction or often accompany midline anomalies-related symptoms. Correct diagnosis of this rare ectopic location is important for the prevention of unnecessary surgery and surgical-induced panhypopituarism. Here, we report a 41-year-old female patient with a pituitary gland located in the nasopharynx, which was detected incidentally in magnetic resonance imaging performed for neck pain.
